Kick off the new year with music, Sun, Jan 26th in Litchfield. WSO's Clark Chamber Concert presents: Amnis Piano Quartet

Sunday, January 26th at 4pm at the Litchfield Community Center - The 2nd of WSO's new 3-Concert Litchfield Series


Out of its enduring collaboration with Yale School of Music and the WSO’s Clark Young Artist Initiative, the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra will present the Amnis Piano Quartet on Sunday, January 26th at 4 pm at The Litchfield Community Center in Litchfield, CT.   

  

Winners of the 2024 Yale Chamber Music Society Competition, the Amnis Piano Quartet was a natural choice for WSO’s Young Artist Chamber Concert. This series fulfills the vision of WSO Board Chair Mr. Thomas C. Clark and the WSO – to showcase and support some of the best rising musical talent and provide young artists with an important career credential.

The chamber concert is the 2nd of WSO’s new three concert ‘LITCHFIELD SERIES’ generously supported by Series Sponsor O&G Industries as well as WSO’s 24/25 Season Presenting Sponsor ThermoConductor Services. This concert will be followed by a 3rd and final performance on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 4 pm, entitled ‘Jazz: Brubeck & Bolling’.   The Series is being presented as part of a new partnership with the Litchfield Community Center with the net proceeds supporting both the WSO and the Litchfield Community Center.

About the Amnis Piano Quartet


Formed at the Yale School of Music, the multi-award winning New Haven-based Amnis Piano Quartet is a celebrated ensemble dedicated to innovative programming and championing underrepresented composers. Its members—Minkyung Lee, Violin; Matthew McDowell, Viola; Jenny Bahk, Cello and Linda Lee, Piano—have performed across the U.S. and internationally, winning numerous competitions and collaborating with leading artists.


The quartet has garnered numerous accolades, including prizes at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, the Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition (Grand Prize and Audience Prize), and the Premio Renzo Giubergia Competition, among others. Finalists in the Coltman Chamber Music Competition and semi-finalists in the 2024 Concert Artists Guild Competition, the ensemble is also dedicated to highlighting underrepresented composers, with a focus on Korean female composers.


Formed under the mentorship of Ettore Causa at the Yale School of Music, Amnis has performed widely across the Northeast United States and internationally, collaborating with renowned artists like Paul Watkins and Tai Murray.
